She's got some lip to her. Peter would find that entertaining if it wasn't for the fact they're about to go into territory where corpses don't stay where they supposed to be rotting. "Bat? Crowbar? Hammer? I could keep going but I don't want to stay out there after dark."
Peter jerks his thumb over his shoulder, toward the gate and the guards waiting to let them out. If it wasn't for the infection thing and knowing they could get slowly surrounded, he would've been tempted to stay out longer, get that precious scavenging in.

R suddenly has the vague inkling that this probably isn't the brightest idea he's ever had. He knows he doesn't have it in him to lie - numbed lips that struggle around words don't help - and he's afraid of telling her the truth, that he's pretty much homeless and his gainful employment is basically shuffling, murder and cannibalism. If he had working blood vessels, they'd be turning his face a bright shade of red.
He could shuffle away. Or he could hang onto her voice, the ups and downs, the way she actually seems interested in anything at all.
"You're...new...?" R tries to stall as he waffles between what to do. His gray, mottled lips purse into a line. "Not...from camp."

She gives him a mildly alarmed look that even the sunglasses can't quite hide. Logically, she knows engaging in close combat with zombies isn't dangerous in the same way here as it is at home. You can get bitten, but getting spit at or blood on your clothes won't turn you, even if it gets in your bloodstream. But her instincts, honed over years of training, scream that fighting hand to hand with zombies will get you killed.
She also hasn't been able to bring herself to eat mammal meat. It's safe. Everyone says it's safe. But she's pretty sure she'd throw up if she tried it, and that'd be a waste of food.
"I'll stick with the weapon that keeps me out of biting range." But she nods, checking the safety one last time before heading towards the gate. "I've been around walking corpses my entire life. Believe me, ranged is better."

We should see what needs doing, before we decide on anything concrete. If our skills are better suited to finding further supplies, then we can do that.
