WAKING UP
You wake up in a studio in an apartment building that's got windows all boarded up. You remember being sick, you remember dying, and you probably can't believe this is the afterlife. If you head out into the hall you'll see that others are heading out too, looking just as confused as you are. All of you died, most of you of the same thing. If you head down to the front office, you'll meet a native resident who will explain in brief that you're in Aqora, a settlement living among the undead and that people like you show up every so often. You'll be given an informational pamphlet, a shitty cell phone, and a walkie. Then you'll be expected to figure it out. No one has time to hold your hand.
EXPLORING
Miscellaneous things here: shops and restaurants turned into places to live, apartments full of people living day to day, the main focus (the library) being the hub where people come to learn and children go to school. Because school never ends, even in the apocalypse. Feel free to buddy up with other newcomers to figure out what the hell is going on.
OR, say you've been here a while. It's time to figure out how to get more supplies! Let's go on a supply run. You'll just be heading out past the barricades to start, and you'll have to dig through buildings to try and find things. If you're lucky, maybe you'll hit a cache. If you're unlucky, you'll find too many undead to fight. No one goes out alone though, so hopefully your partner can help.
"NETWORK"
Someone has set up a rudimentary network using the nearest cell towers. You can communicate with others in the area but only via voice and text. Anything further out is voice only via walkies. You can have a username or leave it blank.
Have fun, campers. |

C'mon, that's barely anything and -
[ Jaden looks down at the wound, frowning. How long has he had it? Usually, it would be healed by now - that's one of the best things about his condition, after all. The super-healing is one of the only reasons why being a werewolf doesn't entirely suck.
Kei keeps going, and what he says makes things even weirder, because what the fuck? That's blowing his mind enough that he wouldn't even think about commenting on the fact that he's a foot and a half taller than the doctor. ]
Yes, of course I know what a zombie is, c'mon, this is not a movie! [ Jaden, remember, you are a werewolf. Why not zombies?
He sighs. ] Anyway, even if that's... a real thing, I'm immune to this stuff. [ At least, he should be. ]

[ but, well, he's sure the young man hadn't used anesthetic to make the wound to begin with so he just braces the injured arm against his knee and grips tight to it, cracking open an iodine sponge that they (luckily) still have a supply of to carefully clean around the wound before setting it carefully on the wrapping - he'll need it again and he can't waste it.
then he has to sew it all up. it's clear that he's a surgeon - he's fast and sure of himself, making quick work of the wound and any obvious internal damage to the flesh involved. it'll hurt like a bitch but hey, he warned him. ]
You're not immune here. No one is. People come here, they were immune at home, they get bit here and they turn. Don't assume you're safe.

Still, he watches, with something like morbid fascination. Back home, this would have closed up by itself, in minutes, leaving nothing but pink new skin behind it. Where the hell is he that his regenerative powers don't work anymore?
And where he's not immune to infections anymore? ]
I never assume I'm safe. But. Zombies. Zombies? Really? Jesus fucking Christ.
[ He runs his free hand over his face. ]
How do I go home?

The short answer is you can't. [ a beat. ] The longer answer is no one knows how to get anyone back to where they came from. You remember dying before you got here? So does everyone else that came here after everything went wrong.
[ he sighs, wiping his bloodied hands and shaking his head. ] We can't leave this community for the most part, much less get people back where they belong. Where were you before?
