WAKING UP
You wake up in a studio in an apartment building that's got windows all boarded up. You remember being sick, you remember dying, and you probably can't believe this is the afterlife. If you head out into the hall you'll see that others are heading out too, looking just as confused as you are. All of you died, most of you of the same thing. If you head down to the front office, you'll meet a native resident who will explain in brief that you're in Aqora, a settlement living among the undead and that people like you show up every so often. You'll be given an informational pamphlet, a shitty cell phone, and a walkie. Then you'll be expected to figure it out. No one has time to hold your hand.
EXPLORING
Miscellaneous things here: shops and restaurants turned into places to live, apartments full of people living day to day, the main focus (the library) being the hub where people come to learn and children go to school. Because school never ends, even in the apocalypse. Feel free to buddy up with other newcomers to figure out what the hell is going on.
OR, say you've been here a while. It's time to figure out how to get more supplies! Let's go on a supply run. You'll just be heading out past the barricades to start, and you'll have to dig through buildings to try and find things. If you're lucky, maybe you'll hit a cache. If you're unlucky, you'll find too many undead to fight. No one goes out alone though, so hopefully your partner can help.
"NETWORK"
Someone has set up a rudimentary network using the nearest cell towers. You can communicate with others in the area but only via voice and text. Anything further out is voice only via walkies. You can have a username or leave it blank.
Have fun, campers. |

Yes, we can discuss it later. We have other matters to attend to, now.

Is there a specific area in Aqora that is designated for residences, or are we to simply claim someplace as our own...?

[ He hasn't checked if there's running water yet and tbh he doesn't want to know if there isn't. He. He still has his moments but he knows he was spoiled as a kid... ]

[ rice tho??? ]
no subject
That sounds promising. [ He smiles. Hey, if they have to keep a low profile they can always help out on the farm? ]
It's been a long time since I had to cook for myself. At the very least that should prove to be interesting.

It's been a long time for me as well. It should be like riding a bike, though.

Yes, I'm sure with the limited options we have, whatever we can make will be fine.
[ Daigo... can probably boil rice at best... sorry, Mine... ]

Between the two of us, food will be the least of our problems.
no subject
Too true. But it's something to consider nonetheless. At least until we can secure enough ammunition to keep ourselves and the others safe.

[ he's not asking this in an incredulous matter but a serious one - if daigo wants to do it this way, it's how he'll do it. plain and simple. ]
no subject
[ He knows Mine will follow him, that's probably the best part of having Mine around. He's steady. He'll do as he's told. And Daigo trusts him without question. ]
Regardless of how or why we found ourselves here, keeping this city safe should be our priority. It may not be Kamurocho, but we yakuza have always had a duty to the people to consider. This is no different.

It may well be. I don't foresee another afterlife after this.

[ and, anyway, mine's own death had been a pretty final statement. he hadn't thought "in the next life" would be quite so literal but here he is ]
no subject
Truth be told, if I think of home for too long I worry I'll never stop. We must do our best to move forward.
no subject
[ ah... ]
I'll be here. To keep you from that.

I'm grateful for that, Mine. Thank you. I know you'll take good care of me.

[ he looks down at the pamphlet and then out over at their new home. they've talked a lot about what they want to look for and made plans, so they should actually get to them. ]
Shall we... [ mine frowns. daigo had asked him not to be as polite. like they're just two civilians. two friends. he can do this. ] Let's go look around.
[ he heads out. come on, vamanos! everybody lets go! ]
no subject
Yes, let's go.
[ Won't this be nice, just two friends hanging out... two regular civilian dudes... not getting kidnapped... how nice... ]
no subject
It's so quiet out here.

[ Kamurocho has never been further away... ]
Speaking of, I was texting Akiyama-san and he suggested somewhere called Milano Lofts. I understand the apartments there have access to a fair amount of natural light.

[ They'll... find their way there eventually, right? Daigo's definitely a great judge of character, right Mine? ]
